State Parks

Caprock Canyons State Park

13,960-acre state park in the beautiful rugged Canyon lands of the Texas Panhandle. Featured in numerous magazines and publications.

Activities: Camping, mountain biking, hiking, equestrian, fishing, swimming, birding, scenic views, star gazing, photography, wildlife, guided tours, historic areas.

Biking: Mountain bike almost 85 miles of multi-use trails ranging from Level 3 in rugged terrain to trails with less than 3 percent grade. About 20 miles of the trails include cliffs, drop-offs, and steep climbs and descents.

Features: Texas State Bison Herd, Lake Theo, Historical marker for Folsom Bison Kill Site, Equestrian Stables, 30 miles of riding trails for horses, hiking and biking.

35 campsites with water and electricity, 40 tent sites, 12 equestrian camp sites, 2 areas for primitive hike-in camping.

Caprock Canyons Trailway State Park

Activities: Bat watching, hiking, biking, equestrian, camping, scenic views, wildlife, historic areas

Features: 64 miles Rails-to-Trails Trailway with Clarity Tunnel (742 foot tunnel featuring hundreds of thousands of Mexican Free tail Bats), 46 trestles, Edgin Siding Marker, John Farris Siding Station.

Directions: Trailway runs 64 miles from Estelline on the east to South Plains on the west. Local access points along the Trailway at Quitaque, Turkey, Monks Crossing, and Tampico
