Caprock Canyons Trailway

The trailway is a great place for hiking, biking & horseback riding and it runs 64.25 miles through Floyd, Briscoe, and Hall Counties. It winds through cultivated fields of the Texas High Plains, drops into rugged canyons of the Caprock Escarpment, and continues down into the famous Red River Valley. A unique feature along the trail near the Escarpment is a 742 foot abandoned railroad tunnel which is on the National register of Historic places as one of only a few such tunnels in Texas.  Originally it was the second longest train tunnel in Texas.  For information on the Trailway or Caprock Canyons State Park, call 806/455-1492 or visit   RTC - Trail of the Month   and  Caprock Canyons Trailway

Note:

Clarity tunnel has recently been cleaned of the bat guano and is back in very good shape.  8-26-2007
